Cheers Sam Fan,
I hope you had a good Memorial Day and welcome to the official beginning of summer. Things are really cranking here at the brewery. The summer crowds are picking up and we're thrilled to see more and more of you.
First off this month, I want to let you know the results of our first Samuel Adams Poll. This was a lot of fun for us to do and thanks for taking the time to answer our questions. Here are the results:
In what was a very close race, Samuel Adams® OctoberFest pulled out the victory! Now, we did hear from some of you that Double Bock, Old Fezziwig®, Cranberry Lambic and Holiday Porter should have been in the poll too. But, remember, it was our first poll. We're working on it.
This edition of What's On Tap has some things you are NOT going to want to miss, such as, favorite Shots of Summer Ale, opportunities for a couple FREE Samuel Adams Boston Lager® Pint Glasses, a little bit of October in June, and I even get on my brewing "soap box" for a few minutes
So, enjoy this month's WOT and have a great 4th of July!
Cheers!
- Brian

I know it sounds a little corny, but when the Fourth of July rolls around on the calendar it brings out a little more of the pride that I have for this company. Our namesake, Samuel Adams, was a patriotic guy and he believed that Independence was important to his family and to this country. He was passionate about what he believed in and didn't let anyone tell him different.
And, to tell you the truth, I feel the same way about this place. I am proud to work at an independent brewery where the common link among my colleagues is the love of good beer. This independent spirit is what allows all of our brewers to experiment with new styles and recipes all the time. Of course we have certain mandatory brewing schedules, but, essentially, our brewers have free reign to play with new brews. Jim is a brewer himself, so he understands the inherent independent brewer spirit. Hell, he acted upon it when he founded the company.
And you can see that independent spirit in many of the other craft breweries around the US. There are hundreds of American Craft Breweries who are independent and are producing great flavorful beer. That is quite a change from a few decades ago. It's a pretty fun time to be drinking good beer. So, cheers to the Independent Craft Brewers out there and Happy Independence Day everyone!
(ok...I am NOW off my soapbox)

There are a couple things that really define the essence of summer for me. First and foremost, a cold Samuel Adams® Summer Ale. After that...break out the flip flops a little more often, spend a week on the beach and catch a lot of summertime baseball. There is nothing like sitting in the bleachers during a twilight game watching the home town team win one in a walk-off in the bottom of the 9th.
So that's what summer is for me. But we want to hear about some of your great summer traditions, some that are made even more memorable by having a Summer Ale. We are calling it the Samuel Adam® Shots of Summer Contest. All you have to do is submit a picture of you or your friends, family, etc., enjoying your favorite summer experience with Summer Ale. We will select a winner every week for 6 weeks. Each winner will:
- Win a NESN Gameday Brewing & Viewing Experience (for 4)
at the Boston Brewery!
- Get their picture featured on the Friday Night NESN Pre-Game Show
- Receive a $50 gift card to the 99 Restaurants
If you just want to view and vote on the photos, that's cool too. In fact, just by voting you can enter to win the NESN Gameday experience at the brewery! Beginning June 15th The Shots of Summer site will launch from the the front page our website, www.samueladams.com
Good Luck, I hope to see you at the brewery and I can't wait to see some of the pics you guys are going to submit!

As you all know, we have spent the past year working with sensory experts and glass craftsmen to create the perfect pint glass for Samuel Adams Boston Lager®. The right shape, thickness, curves, height, the kind of glass, they all affect the taste of the beer. In fact, we identified 6 unique attributes to the new glass.
Side Note: If you are new to the newsletter, first of all, welcome. Second, check out the March Newsletter to get up to speed on the new Pint Glass.
And ever since we created the Samuel Adams Boston Lager® Pint Glass we have had quite a few requests for the glass. Thousands of new pint glasses have been purchased by beer drinkers and experienced at bars and restaurants around the country. We have sold quite a few here at the brewery and a lucky group of
you got the full Pint Glass experience at March's Open House.
If you haven't purchased a set or drank from one at a bar, here's your chance. We will select 100 people to win a FREE set of 2 Samuel Adams Boston Lager® Pint Glasses. And for the people who don't win, we'll email you a one time only 50% off discount code for the glassware that you can use through our e-store.
Although, there is one catch...if you get the glassware, we want to hear what you think about it. The new glass has received a ton of praise from drinkers, bartenders and beer writers, but we want to hear your opinion. When you get the glass, break it in with a Samuel Adams® Boston Lager and then go to our website and leave us a comment (or you can read what other people have written.) This site wll also be live on June 15th.
Here is the link to sign up to win the 2 FREE Samuel Adams® Boston Lager Pint Glasses. Good Luck!

I know we are just hitting our stride with Samuel Adams® Summer Ale, but sometimes it's nice to get one of our seasonal beers a little early. We knew we would be running a test brew of this year's Samuel Adams® OctoberFest in June, so we thought we would open up the brewery for a tasting...and share a sneak preview of our most popular and highly anticipated seasonal brew.
In other words, it's Oktoberfest in June. Flip flops and lederhosen. We'll walk you through our masterful OctoberFest malt blend, tell you why our marzen beer is a little different than others and have a few tastings. RSVP here for your chance to get a little taste of autumn in June!
