Oats were first added to beer for practicality when barley wasn’t readily available. Now, thanks to their rich protein and starch content, brewers use oats to enhance the beer’s body and complexity, along with adding a subtle sweetness. Just like a comforting holiday meal, this stout’s round, smooth body and rich, roasted notes of espresso and dark chocolate are just the right antidotes to winter’s harsher climates.
