During his very first sales call, Jim Koch learned the importance of selling skills.

Those skills have been, and continue to be, a key foundation of Boston Beer’s success. We are committed to making the best craft beers in the country - and our sales team gets ample training so they can be the most knowledgeable beer consultants in the market.

Thinking about a career in Sales?

40% of all new hires in the past year were entry-level Sales positions.

We hire recent college grads and entry-level talent as regional Brewery Representatives. We place emphasis on our employee career growth and promoting from within. With our extensive training (both classroom and in the field), our Brewery Reps have a ton of opportunity for moving up.

Sales Calls

A typical day includes 8-12 sales calls,

as well as building retail displays, rotating beer for freshness, making sure our beers are merchandised to our standards, and doing draft quality audits to make sure our beer is as good as it gets.

Sales_educating

An important part of the job is educating and sampling drinkers on our beer.

Our Brewery Representatives host promotions, tastings and beer dinners at accounts and pour beer at festivals.

Sales_relationships

The Sales team builds relationships with accounts and wholesalers,

and find creative ways to keep our beer available and visible in the market.

Who works in Sales?

We don’t have brick & mortar regional offices, so our sales team spends most of their time in the market.

  • Regional Field Sales
We have people in all 50 states that are responsible for selling our beers to on premise bars & restaurants and off premise retail stores within their territory. They also maintain & manage relationships with our wholesalers.
  • National Accounts
This team calls on both national retail and restaurant chains at the corporate level.
  • Category Management
They analyze national beer industry data and provide recommendations on industry trends for retailers & our sales team, as well as for the most profitable retail shelf schematics.
