Specialty Beers
It started with Samuel Adams Boston Lager back in 1984 that made people reconsider what they thought of American beer, and it's continued ever since. We love the challenge of taking beer to new heights to redefine your expectations of your taste experience. What would happen if we aged it, blended vintages, pushed the alcohol content? There's no limit to what we can try and no limit to what beer can be.

Specialty Beers
When it comes to our truly experimental beers it often starts with the idea of "wouldn't it be cool if..." Those could be scary or liberating words. We began to depart from classic beer styles back in 1993 with Samuel Adams® Triple Bock when we experimented with aging beer in wood. From there we saw a glint of where we could create a new style of beer, a flavor destination not yet achieved. What if a beer could have some of the taste elements of a cognac or port? We weren't quite sure how to get there but the experimentation began. The result, years later, was Samuel Adams Utopias®. That spirit of innovation continues today as we constantly ask the question "what if".
Next: Endless Curiosity
Specialty Beers
Each of our specialty beers was an experiment in how to take a flavor profile and go past normal expectations. That endless curiosity drove us to create beers like Samuel Adams® Imperial Pilsner with 75 times the hops of a normal beer. For each of these beers the flavor experience is not only new and different but tastes great too.

Specialty Beers
Our specialty beers are true experiments of flavor and creativity in the brewing process. Sometimes this means a single batch that's released or only limited amount that can be made at one time. They may be hard to find but the flavor experience of each is like no other.
