For the past two years, the Boston Beer Co., maker of Samuel Adams beers, has been working with Germany's Weihenstephan Brewery, the world's oldest brewery, to create an entirely new style of beer. Boston Beer founder Jim Koch and Weihenstephan director Josef Schradler announced this morning that the collaboration is complete.

Forget the Moët — ring in 2011 the right way by toasting a glass of Sam Adams Infinium Beer ($20).

It must be fun to be Jim Koch. In 1984 at age 35, a high-powered management consultant with business and law degrees from Harvard, he decided, just for fun, to brew a batch of beer in his kitchen. He used an 1880 recipe from his great-great-grandfather.

Low in alcohol and very refreshing, Summer Ale is ideal for hot weather. Because it's so widely available, it's an easy summer seasonal to find if you're on the way to a picnic, cookout or the lake.
